So here’s the sitch: there are a lot of bookish Substack pages mixing book reviews with recommendations, thoughts on the reading process etc., etc. And that’s great (I subscribe to a lot of them) but that’s not what we do here. At Ghost Reader it’s all literary analysis all the time, baby!

After all, who has time to read these days? I imagine slightly more people than those who have time to read the classics. And that is very much ✨The Point✨ of what we do here over at Ghost Reader Substack - ever wondered what makes ‘great’ literature ’great’, and what on earth makes it worth all the bother? What the hell do academics talk about all day? This page will give you some idea. Hopefully it will inspire you to read some of these books yourself, or reimagine them in a less dusty, archaic light. At the very least it will give you some interesting talking points to impress your friends with at parties.

So if you’re the sort of person who gets excited about endless analysis then you should subscribe and join my little posse of ghost readers! I’d love to have you here in this grave with me 👻

[Although, if you did want some recommendations, you should look here, but you didn’t hear it from me 🫢]
